Movies in the CityNovember 19, 2009

In 2010 we are going to do a couple of pretty cool things, at least I think so.

On of the things I'm really stoked about is Facade Features- the series where we are literally going to use the city as a movie screen! Movies on the side of buildings, movies in alleys, rooftops, parking garages, really guerilla style movies. Except ours are legal.

The hardest thing about this job is finding the titles to screen.

For instance, what would make the most sense to screen in an alley? West Side Story? Fight Club? The Warriors? Are those too obvious? What about on a rooftop? The Dark Knight? Parking Garage? Do I need to match the movie with the location? Or does the backdrop of the city provide enough character?

I love doing movies in the city because people can walk by, sit in for a screen or six, walk on with their night. It adds a new level to city living and makes the movie more memorable, more memorable then sitting in a movie theater.
